Koh Chang
Koh Chang, known as the third biggest island in Thailand with well-crafted touristy attractions that embrace visitors from everywhere. Many resorts and beaches reside in the hut of this island offer many options for your stay, ranging from backpackers preference to the high-class resort for those who prefer fancy stay.
The whole island host many great facilities and activities that give you a wide range of agenda to fill in your wonderful stay. I have gathered my thoughts and impressions on different areas that may help you decide better on your trip planning. First, let me give you a little tour of each part of the islands:
Klong Son: A lovingly area dominated by the artistry Furama Xclusive resort, previously known as Aiyapura. Besides its luxurious part, this local village has an expansive view of the bay with many things to enjoy such as fruit farm tour, elephant camp, trekking, golf club, animal fighting arena, and many more waterfall visits for extra joy.
South White Sand Beach: very recommended to those who prefer a quiet getaway. There, you can enjoy the quality time with your peers, a small cocktail talk or a fancy seafood BBQ. A great hideout from the busy road and crowd, yet many accessible budget accommodations and small bars in the area.
Pearl Beach: a beach with no sand, yet a place for those who just need a sense of connection with nature and sea. There are a few artistry boutique resorts with good prices for your preference. Without a romantic beach walk, you can do snorkeling at the offshore part.
North Klong Prao Beach: a hub to many 3-star resorts and shopping plazas for those who want more than just beach and seafood itinerary.
South Klong Prao Beach: A quiet part yet having a wide range of expensive resorts to choose. There are areas that still underdeveloped and beach that allows for a quiet getaway even in the high season.
Kai Bae Beach: once a haven for backpackers and families stay, highly recommended for those who prefer bungalow over hotel environment. There are many affordable flows for both eat and drink, yet not a recommended place to enjoy the beach.
Lonely Beach: If you’re on a limited budget and want to spend more on food and drink per day than your accommodation then head here. Basic huts clustered amongst reggae bars, tattoo parlors, and cheap eateries.
Bailan: The sleepy beach with 2km to the north. Basic huts and some more comfortable bungalows for those who want peace and quiet , yet having a very budget trip. There is only one fancy resort with an artificial beach, which made for eyes rather than practical plans like swimming.
Bangbao: This is the main setting off point for most dive and snorkeling trips. Once home to fishermen, now inhabited by tour agents, souvenir sellers, dive schools, coffee shops, large seafood restaurants etc.
Klong Kloi Beach: not different from any other part of the island but the atmosphere and evening cool breeze the different chill and keep me longer.
East Coast: It’s too quiet for many people but a handful of resorts cater to those who need escapes. On the roadside, more cozy restaurants and coffee shops are springing up and a growing number of expats now choose to live here in peace and quiet.
Salakkok: There’s not a lot in this beautiful, undeveloped mangrove lined bay in the southeast of the island – and that’s the attraction. There is a chance for kayaking to see another beauty of Koh Change yet it’s quite an effort to get there.
Salakphet: Huge bay in the southeast of the island. Home to yachts and a small marina. You get to witness authentic lifestyle on the island as there are many Fisherman’s villages, good food and a few free-entry waterfalls for an adventurous tour.
